Buckelurne

When I first saw a picture of this 6th century cremation urn in the archives I remember staring at it for ages and thinking how beautiful it was. I wanted to try and re-create the handmade look using the sculpting tools in Blender. I made all of my own custom stamps using photoshop after watching a tutorial by Grant Abbitt. I tried to capture the wonky lines, uneven spacing, varying angles for the placement of the stamps, and surface imperfections that gave it so much character. My brother 3D printed it for me and finished it off beautifully with a little touch of paint. It was amazing to see all the tiny details in real life and to hold the finished result in my hands.
